30 answers for new users: scanning protein, setting up VeWorld, what VeChain and B3TR are, how earning works, and keeping your wallet safe.
Per Gram is a free web app on VeChain that rewards you for buying lower carbon protein. Scan the barcode or snap your receipt and you earn B3TR, the reward token of VeBetterDAO. Beans, tofu, eggs and chicken earn more per gram than beef.
Per Gram reads supermarket receipts from many countries, and the app is available in 12 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Turkish, Serbian, Japanese and Korean. If a receipt or product isn’t recognised, you can send it for a person to check.
Per Gram works with VeWorld, the VeChain wallet for iPhone and Android. Open pergramapp.com from VeWorld’s built-in browser so your wallet can connect. Other wallets aren’t supported yet.
Download VeWorld from the App Store or Google Play, create a new wallet and write your recovery phrase on paper. Keep that phrase private, because anyone who has it controls your wallet. Then open pergramapp.com in VeWorld’s browser.
You’ve opened Per Gram in a normal browser, which can’t see your wallet. Open VeWorld, go to its built-in browser and visit pergramapp.com there instead.
Verification comes from VeBetterDAO Passport, which helps tell real people from bots. It doesn’t stop you claiming. Voting in a VeBetterDAO allocation round or holding a Galaxy Member NFT can clear it.
VeChain is a public blockchain built for real world uses like supply chains and sustainability. Transactions confirm in seconds and cost a fraction of a cent. Per Gram runs on VeChain and pays its rewards there.
VeBetterDAO is a VeChain program that rewards everyday sustainable actions through apps like Per Gram. Each week, B3TR is shared between apps based on community votes, and each app pays its users for verified actions.
B3TR is the reward token of VeBetterDAO. Per Gram pays your rewards in B3TR, straight to your VeWorld wallet. You can keep it, or convert it to VOT3 to vote in VeBetterDAO.
VOT3 is the voting version of B3TR. You convert B3TR to VOT3 one to one, then use it to vote on which apps get rewards each round. You can convert it back to B3TR at any time.
VET is VeChain’s main token. You don’t need VET to earn on Per Gram, because rewards are paid in B3TR.
Each claim uses a tiny VeChain network fee, paid in VTHO, of less than a third of a cent. Per Gram doesn’t charge anything else.
Buy protein, scan each product’s barcode and photograph the receipt within 3 days. Per Gram works out the protein you bought and pays more for lower carbon sources. Rewards build up over the week and are paid the following Monday. How rewards work
Foods where protein is the main point: meat, fish, eggs, beans and lentils, tofu, dairy, nuts and protein products. Foods with little protein per 100 g, like bread or fruit, don’t count.
Each food is paid by its carbon footprint per gram of protein. Beans, tofu and chicken have a much smaller footprint than beef, so they earn more per gram. See the full ranking or how it’s calculated.
Weeks run Monday to Sunday, and rewards are paid in B3TR the following Monday. A product we haven’t seen before is checked by a person first, which can add a short wait.
Claim within 3 days of the date on your receipt. Each receipt can only be claimed once.
Yes. Protein counts up to 800 g per week. Claims above that are scaled down, not refused.
Boosts multiply your rewards. Holding an eligible NFT gives a holder boost, and voting for Per Gram in a VeBetterDAO allocation round can also increase your rewards. NFT boosts don’t stack, and the NFT must be held for 72 hours before you shop. Boost details
It depends on what you buy, how much protein it has, its carbon footprint and your boosts. Per Gram doesn’t promise any amount, and the value of B3TR can change. You can see what each claim earned in My claims.
Seasons are limited periods with an extra bonus pool, shared by points on top of normal rewards. Points are protein times food rate times boost. The leaderboard shows where you stand.
Badges show your claim history. Everyone starts as New, then moves up to Fast Lane and Veteran after a run of clean claims. A rejected claim resets you to New.
Tap “photo of the outside” and photograph the nutrition label. A person checks it, and your claim is paid once it’s approved. You can also add the product to Open Food Facts so it’s recognised for everyone.
Yes. Order pages from delivery or click and collect shops work, as a photo of the screen or a saved screenshot. Copies of a receipt that’s already been claimed are refused.
Tap “Wrong line?” on that line. A person reviews it, and the fix helps the reader get better for everyone.
No. Per Gram never holds your funds and never asks for your recovery phrase. Rewards are sent straight to your own VeWorld wallet. If anyone asks for your recovery phrase, in Discord, by DM or anywhere else, it’s a scam.
Receipt photos are read and then deleted, not stored. We keep a scrambled fingerprint so a receipt can’t be claimed twice, plus a random browser ID and rough device settings for up to 90 days, used only to spot one person running many wallets.
Receipts are checked before rewards are paid, each receipt can be claimed once, and VeBetterDAO Passport helps separate people from bots. We don’t publish the details, so the checks stay effective.
Join the Per Gram Discord for help and news, and follow @pergramapp on X. Never post receipt photos or your recovery phrase publicly.

Specific problems and older answers. These sit outside the main FAQ.
Yes. Lines that match this time will claim; anything already claimed is skipped. Nothing pays twice.
Give it a moment, and if it is still going after twenty seconds the page will say so. Check My claims before pressing again — the claim may already be in.
It still earns, and it still counts towards your points and your share of the bonus — it just cannot count as a streak day, because there is no date on it to say which day it was.
One that ended up paid or settled and was never rejected. A claim an operator approved or granted counts too. Some review rows are about the receipt rather than about you — an undated till slip, a product with no protein figure — and those never count against a badge.
A rejected claim puts a wallet back to 🌱 New. If that was a mistake, ask in Discord and it can be put back.
Four weeks with a bonus pool on top of the ordinary rewards: 2,500 B3TR a week, 10,000 over the season. It is extra. It does not come out of what you would have earned anyway, and it is not reduced by anything you were paid on the spot.
By points. Your share of the week’s points is your share of the week’s 2,500 B3TR — up to a limit of 10% of the pool for any one wallet, so a single big week cannot take most of it. When fewer than ten wallets claim, the week is split evenly instead.
Shopping on more days in the week is worth more. 3–4 days: +10% points. 5 or more: +20%. It counts the date on the receipt, not the day you photographed it, so a Sunday evening spent catching up on five receipts is still one day’s shopping. A day counts once however many things were on it, and a receipt needs at least 10g of protein on it to count as a day.
They are not: the board is ordered by points. What can differ is the estimated bonus beside them, because of the 10% limit — a wallet at the limit shows the same estimate as another wallet at the limit even though one has more points.
Protein counts up to 800g a week; beyond that, shopping on more days (streak) and choosing plant protein are what raise your share.
80% to users, 20% to running costs and development.
If your wallet has a .vet name it is shown instead. Otherwise the board shows the first and last few characters of the address, never the whole thing.
